Going back to the beginning and why I got into woodworking in the first place – almost two years ago I made a plywood cabinet for this amplifier (see the blog post here) and ever since I’ve been working towards having the skills and the time to build “a beautiful” cabinet for it.
The cabinet is made of rare redwood that my local wood store had in stock. It has been colored with a palisander stain and layers of laquer has been applied.
Basically the timber was split in two, planed and then glued together in the “whole length” to allow the grain to “run around” the cabinet.
It doesn’t look like much – it just looks like a nice case for an amplifier – and it is. But it also signifies the progress that I have made as a woodworker and I consider it a cornerstone in my development.
