The tools used are a central point for any woodworker or craftsman.
When talking about planes the degree of which the blade meets the wood changes how it cuts the tree and has different purposes. This kind of plane is essentially used for cutting end grain but can also be used to “polish” a surface.
The plane is a replacement for a crappy cheap plane that I bought a long time age but reuses the blade.
It’s made of leftover oak wood from the Sculptable table and some mahagony I had laying around. The mahagony provides a very hard and smooth making the plane glide exceptionally well.
It took me a little day to build it and for me making his own tools is a signature mark of a craftsman: they are build especially for a person and a purpose and this one sings.
