Woodworking and craft projects are my passion – my secret place where I find peace and something tangible in this fast paced world.
Trying out new ideas and being creative is the essence and thats why my primary “product” is custom designs.
You get something truly unique – not just a piece of furniture – but a story and a personalized unique piece taking your preferences and needs into account.
The process differs from project to project but it will typically involve these overall steps:
- Getting to know you - a personal meeting were we at best visit the place where your new piece is to come to life. We will talk about ideas, materials and your personal preferences.
- Sketching and sampling – I will go back and play with the ideas. Based on skethes and material samples, etc. I will suggest a design – or couple of design ideas for you. We will talk about the ideas and agree on next steps.
- Actual design drawing and proposal – After agreeing on the overall idea, materials, sketches I will make you a real proposal with more detailed design drawings, material examples, a visualization of the final product and a price range. This is where you really sign off.
- (Miniature model) – Depending on the projects complexity, if I am unsure about parts of the construction or need to try out ideas – or if you choose to see a minuature before sign-off – I will make a small model of the actual project.
- Production – I will make the actual product and if you wish I will share pictures and progress during the process. Sometimes when the materials are presented in the workshop it actually “tells its own story” or creates new ideas. In these cases I will share those for further discussion.
- Finishing – Finally we have the raw product ready and we are ready to apply the right finish. At this point it would be a good idea to take time to visit me in the workshop, feel the piece and decide how the finish should be.
- Handover – You get the product and we talk about maintaining the piece.
