Remembering how to live

how-to-live

What’s it all about?

The picture above was taken on a trip to Poland where we went into the mountains – It was freezing like hell, and slippery, but it felt like living! Thinking back I’ve been using too much time with worries and fear. I’ve done too many things I didn’t love just to survive. Fear is a killer! Fear of loosing your job, your partner, your appartment, your life – or just the fear of looking awkward in a crowd.

I’ve been an IT professional for more than 10 years and I’ve always thought that the speed with which technology changes would make it hard to keep up. The job that I have been in for the last almost 8 years has slowly worn me out, and over the last two years I have been less and less able to find energy and passion in what I do. My work has always been the core of my life so it has become an existential “crisis” – without passion I am nothing – or I feel like nothing.

At work the diversity of what we do is extreme and I’m simply not able to oversee all the details anymore. Simplicity and focus isn’t there – and to compensate I started looking for an “analog” hobby that would also let me be practical and create somthing tangible.

I’ve always been a DIY-kind-of-guy and I’ve rebuild everything in our appartment – new bathroom, kitchen, floors, walls, just about everything – and I’m done – all finished. What to do? I started doing wood working, and its only been about 9 months – but I’ve been able to refind love and passion in the wood and the pieces I create.

Woodworking is a craft that in itself is both simple and logical, but with finesse, design and craftmanship it becomes a true art – and for me:

Its about living and living without fear – its about enjoying what you do and remembering the people you care about around you – its about remembering how to live!

Touch me. Feel me. Love me. is a new beginning – a reboot – a digital outlet of the unique and personal pieces of furniture that I make.
